Weyr is pronounced “where”
A place to belong, connect, and grow.
Our core philosophy
Every behavior communicates.
Everyone in the family matters.
Inclusion is fundamental.
Behavior is not automatically a problem to eliminate. A smile can mean joy, connection, discomfort, or uncertainty. We begin with curiosity: what is this behavior communicating, and what does the whole system need?
Who we support
Weyr & Roots is being built for everyone. We have particular experience with developmental disabilities across diagnoses, support needs, relationships, and stages of life. Support is not limited to parents or to any one disability.
A place to be understood as a whole person, not reduced to a diagnosis, behavior, or role.
Support for connection, communication, intimacy, caregiving strain, and shared decision making.
Room for the love, exhaustion, advocacy, grief, joy, and complexity that can coexist in caregiving.
Because every person in the system matters, and family is not limited to who we are born to.
Why whole system support matters
For much of modern American history, people with developmental disabilities were separated from their families and communities and placed in institutions. Today, more people are growing up, living, and belonging within their homes and communities, but families were not handed a roadmap for that enormous change.
Caregivers, partners, siblings, chosen family, and disabled individuals are navigating relationships and responsibilities that previous generations were often never allowed to experience together. Inclusion was the right change. Families should not be expected to carry it alone.
Building a life of belonging means supporting the whole family system.
Planned services
Weyr & Roots will begin as a supervised telehealth therapy practice and grow toward broader community support over time.
